Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be a course map provided this year? What’s the route?
A course map and elevation profile is found at this link: Operation Hero Base Borden Run Map
The 5k and 10k courses go out in the same direction, and turn around at the 2.5k and 5k marks, respectively.
Can you use Ipod on the race? Also, can you run with strollers in the 5k race?
Music players are allowed on the course, however if you do so, be aware of your surroundings and watch out for others on course, causing potential harm.
Are there medals for all three runs. What are the age limits for the 5K
Are there any finisher medals?
All participants will receive a special Base Borden Run dog tag. It will be specific to the distance you complete.
Is there a flat rate if a team is entered of more than 5 people?
For 2011 there is no team option. All runners and walkers must sign up as individuals. We do however fully encourage teamwork, jerseys, costumes, and any other way to support family and friends.
Is the 5k run on a regular course or does it have hills
The 5k and 10k courses take place on all road. The 5k is fairly flat, with one small hill. The 10k has one hill that is quite steep, but only 300m long.
The Half Marathon route is challenging with hills, and also has approximately 5k of trail in the middle. The trail is well groomed, and wraps around the training facilities.
Is there age group prizing and if so will it be for all events?
There will be age group certificates and ribbons given to the top three male and female in the following categories in all races:
Overall Male
Overall Female
24 and Under
25-39
40+

Are there plans to post more details about the run? Things like a map of the running route, water/Gatorade stations, etc? If not, what type of terrain will the run be held on (pavement, sidewalk, trail, etc)?
Thanks,
Don
Is it possible to get a race course description?
are both distances (5 & 20) “chipped” races
i.e. is this a competitive race, or is it a fun run/walk ?
thanks !
Chris
Yes, both are chipped.
It is a paved walking/running trail.
is there a map available? is the course flat or hilly?
thanks
Is there going to be a race route / map released so that we can get some details? Also, when I registered, I was able to see a roster but now I can’t. Is there a link registered runners can access for the route and roster?
Can you provide us with a map of the half marathon course.
Where is the course description? Is this an out and back run or a loop
I heard there was a huge prize for first place. Is this true?
How many people are expected to run the half and are there any time restraints?
We are expecting a few hundred and there are no time restraints.
You will have to come out and see.
We are looking forward to the next event happening Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 at CFB Borden.

Friends, you can see the course map and elevation profile … next to the Holiday Inn icon above.
Jeff, will there be aid stations, and if so, how often, and is it just water or some other fancy stuff? Just need to know how much of my own stuff I’ll need to carry.
Thanks, really looking forward to it!
