Operation Hero Awards 2011 Scholarships

by admin on November 2, 2011

Operation Hero, a campaign to fund Georgian College scholarships for members of military families, was launched in 2010 by a group of local business and community leaders wanting to give back to military families, and will give preference to families currently posted at CFB Borden.

Operation Hero provides members of Canadian military families with the opportunity to receive a scholarship to assist in the funding of their education at Georgian College. This scholarship will be endowed in perpetuity to support future generations.

This year Operation Hero named the first and second year scholarships in honour of Private Kevin McKay and Sapper Brian Collier.

Congratulations to the recipients for this year’s scholarship:

  • Amanda MacLeod – Private Kevin Thomas McKay Memorial Scholarship (1st year scholarship)
  • Stephanie Weatherbee – Sapper Brian Collier Memorial Scholarship (2nd year scholarship)
